Ulrike has well-developed skills in researching and interpreting cultural heritage matters with a focus on detail. She brings to the team a wide range of experience in project management, including community engagement.
In 1985 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Education (Kulturpädagogik) from University Hildesheim, Germany. Subject areas included studies of anthropology, philosophy and psychology as well as literature, fine arts and history of culture and respective interrelationships. Ulrike was part of a team developing new concepts for interpretation and community engagement at the Roemer- and Pelizaeus Museum in Hildesheim, an important museum in Europe with regard to Ancient Egyptian and Ancient Peruvian art. She also developed and ran projects in the cultural and community sector with children and young adults as well as in the lifelong learning division at the Open University Hannover.
After migrating to Australia in 1995, Ulrike started work with the Queensland Museum, Mount Isa Branch. Projects included research into local heritage, curatorial work and community engagement. Ulrike volunteered at the National Trust's Underground Hospital Museum in Mount Isa while completing her Master of Arts degree in Cultural Heritage and Museums Studies from Deakin University, Melbourne. Ulrike also worked as assistant manager at Mount Isa Brickworks from 1998 to 2007 in which she gained extensive experience in project management, HR management, safe work practices, quality control and budgeting.
Ulrike has recently managed a project interpreting archaeological finds from the Old Maryborough Township site. This project comprised historical research, community consultation, oral history collection, curatorial work, display concept and implementation and public relations work.
Ulrike is a member of Museums Australia and Australia ICOMOS.
