ARCHAEO Cultural Heritage Services (ARCHAEO) has a long tradition of involvement in the assessment and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage.
Our team of permanent staff and long term partners includes archaeologists, anthropologists, historians, museum and interpretive experts, GIS and database specialists, and Indigenous stakeholder experts (including lawyers and technical advisors specialising in native title and cultural heritage legislation).
This core team of highly qualified and experienced professional advisors have successfully developed and implemented stakeholder consultation and cultural heritage management strategies for many of the highest profile projects within Queensland in recent years, including the development of the Gladstone Port and the associated LNG industry (inclusive of the QGC, Arrow, Santos and APLNG projects) and the development of the Bowen and Galilee Basin (inclusive of the Adani, GVK/Hancock and China First Projects). This expertise is further reflected in the large volume of EIS technical reports and the associated development of Part 7 CHMPs that ARCHAEO has been involved in for state significant projects over recent years.
ARCHAEO also has long term, established relationships with Aboriginal stakeholders across Queensland and our services include the provision of employment and training services to a number of native title groups across the state.
Similarly, ARCHAEO has a long history of assisting local, State and Commonwealth government agencies and private industry in the provision of facilitation and cultural heritage management services in relation to Aboriginal cultural heritage within the wider Brisbane region.
ARCHAEO also has extensive experience in the assessment, recording and excavation of both Aboriginal and early historic sites (including convict era sites) within Queensland and nationally.
Alongside this expertise can be added the depth of ARCHAEO’s substantial recent experience in the development of heritage management plans, conservation management plans and large scale heritage assessments for local, State and Commonwealth government.

- 20+ years' experience as a consistent provider of high level strategic and technical advice to Aboriginal native title groups and proponents alike, directly assisting in the successful negotiation, facilitation and implementation of more than 200 ILUAs and Part 7 CHMPs.
- Substantial experience across literally thousands of individual cultural heritage assessments for a wide variety of projects across Queensland.
- Implementation of multiple complex, large scale assessment and mitigation strategies incorporating the documentation and management of 1000s of archaeological and cultural sites.
- Long term partnerships with Aboriginal groups as their nominated employment service provider, including offering our Traditional Owner clients the option of employment services for their negotiators, coordinators and field officers with ARCHAEO currently employing more than 250 Traditional Owner field officers, negotiators and coordinators.
